N-ZINE
What’s N-Zine all about?
N-Zine is a zine which is open to submissions from anyone. Each edition has a specific theme, but aside from that, it’s up to you!
Join us on Sat, 20 Apr 2024 at 3pm for an interactive workshop at the Meeting House for freewrites, prompts and a supportive community environment. Book here.
We will update this page with submission opportunities. See our previous editions on a Google Drive here.

Submissions are now open for issue 6!
Theme: ENCOUNTERS
Encounter: the word signifies a meeting, a collision, of forces or entities–of friends, strangers, and even adversaries. In our world of encounters, risk jostles against possibility. Encounters can be dangerous or awkward, but they can also be wondrous, sparking up the excitement of new stories, conversations, or discoveries. Encounters are constantly taking place, marking out both distance and proximity between self and other, helping us to continue learning how to coexist. We might think about a shared smile with a passing stranger, a political debate with a new acquaintance, a chance encounter with a long-lost friend amid the anonymous crowds of London, or encounters with the natural world and the nonhuman… feel free to interpret the theme however you like.
You can send us prose, poetry, visual poetry, or any other kind of writing that responds in some way to the theme. Please email your submission to n-zine@new-unity.org. Please share the submissions callout with your networks! The closing date is 31st May 2024. Please send a short bio with your work, for inclusion in the zine.
N-Zine is produced and looked after by the Newington Green Meeting House near the border between Hackney and Islington. But we welcome submissions from people based anywhere.
We welcome all submissions and hope to publish as many of them as possible in print and/or online. We will not publish anything with content that is racist, sexist, ableist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, or otherwise discriminatory. Please be respectful: this is the central ethos of the project.
As a general rule, we don’t edit pieces submitted by writers, and have no requirements about expression or use of particular types of language. We’re very happy to give feedback if you request it, or to work together if you want support with your piece. However, as a general rule we will not edit pieces.
In some limited and very rare circumstances we would consider editing or removing pieces – such as if a submission contained language that may harm or offend a marginalised group.
