Female Turkish & Kurdish Artists: Music and Films

In this special event, a short film and a documentary film that focus on gender issue in the Middle East will be shown.

'Aysa' is a short film that portrays a village girl who is not allowed to go to school but never stops dreaming.

'A Fatal Dress Polygamy' is a 45 min long documentary that opens a discussion about the role of the women in the Kurdish society.

This screening includes a Q&A after the film screening with director writer/director, Mizgin Mujde Arslan.

The North-London based singer/songwriter Djanan Turan will perform with an all-women trio for this special occasion. Accompanied by Alice Mary Jelaska on clarinet, Didor on guitar, she will be singing songs of women composers and poets of Anatolia.
